RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Watershed Security is seeking a qualified PostgreSQL/Oracle Database Administrator that is ready to contribute to the Financial Solutions team in the development, test and production environments.  The DBA will be responsible for working with a dynamic team managing the data warehouse and providing secure solutions and design, develop and implement data strategies in a secure AWS environment. .
 QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIRED SKILLS
  • Minimum 2-5 experience in Database Administration
  • Experience with various DBMS platforms (preferably Oracle and Postgresql)
  • Experience with cloud-based databases (preferably AWS RDS)
  • Experience with database automation and scripting
  • Experience in database design and modelling (E-R diagrams, Data normalization)
  • Experience in SQL and query optimization (Query tuning, Indexing etc)
  • Experience in Database security (authentication/authorization, encryption, access control etc)
  • Experience in Backup/Recovery, Performance monitoring
  • Experience in Data migration and integration (ETL, Data Warehousing)
  • DoD Secret Clearance Required
  • Remote in DMV area, must occasionally report onsite

Preferred/Desired
  • Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering, scientific, or technical discipline
  • 2+ years of prior professional services or federal consulting experience, preferably in an Agile environment
  • 2+ years of experience with DevOps environments.
  • Creativity and innovation – desire to learn and apply new technologies, products, and libraries
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills

Responsibilities of this position also include, but are not limited to:
  • Install, monitor, and maintain PostgreSQL database.
  • Implement monitoring and alerting, implement backup and recovery processes, provide system and SQL performance tuning and assist in business process integration with various data sources.
  • Fulfill user requests ranging from access control, backup, restore, refresh to non-production to performance tuning.
  • Provides online & on call coverage for production support and administration of PostgreSQL, Hadoop and AWS RDS DB instances.
  • Hands-on experience loading and performance tuning of data processes in PostgreSQL, Hadoop and AWS RDS instances.
